We MUST SELL our 2017 Trails West Sierra Living Quarters Horse Trailer
This SpeciaLite trailer has aluminum sides on a steel frame for maximum strength while keeping the weight down. We purchased this trailer when retirement allowed us to take longer horse camping trips. The optional 8 cu in fridge/freezer holds enough food for long trips. The living quarters is 13x13, 8’ wide and slide out dinette expands the living area. Slide out has optional side windows to maximize natural light and views outside. AC/Heating ducting includes bathroom. Counter has more space with flip up extension. A roll out screen door for fresh air in the cabin. Television/DVD rotates to watch from bed or dinette. California King mattress includes brand new Trails West comforter and pillow shams. We had other bedding that we used.
The side tack with swing out saddle rack is convenient and located on the side of the trailer instead of in back, thus allowing for a more open space when loading and unloading horses. We even used it as a clothes closet when camping without our horses. Because it’s completely separate from the rear horse area, there are no shavings or odors common in rear tack areas. The broom closet on the rear side gives much more storage space, as do the areas under the mangers. An onboard Onan generator is mounted on top in the hayrack and can be operated from on top or inside the cabin.
Not a factory option, but an added feature is an electric winch to get hay up to the hayrack more easily. I simply set it up, load hay and then take it down. Also included is a plywood side height extension so you can carry two layers of square bales in the hayrack without road wind ripping the bales apart. It is built to maintain space between the generator and the hay, and a custom fitted tarp keeps the hay dry while traveling.
We moved three years ago to what was our favorite place to go horse camping so we no longer need our trailer. To assure that all is working before listing the trailer for sale, we just had new wheel bearings and brakes done, new batteries installed and the generator serviced, including new carburator along with filters and oil change. Tires are good.
The horse compartment has Polylast flooring. The following from an article on horse trailer flooring options:

Maintenance: Cleaning Polylast is very easy. You just rinse it out and let it dry. Since it’s a porous material, moisture is able to drain through and the supporting floor with 5/16” holes drilled every 12” on center completes the drainage. This helps protect the integrity of your trailer bed.
The front stall has a stud wall and there is a pass through door from the living area to the horse area. Dual hydraulic jacks auto level the trailer.
The Trails West website has program to custom build a trailer so I selected the options on our trailer. The upgraded refrigerator ($319 option when we ordered) is no longer shown as available, but equipped with the other options on this trailer the retail cost on the same 2024 model is $109,988.00.
