Here's a Calico 16' Stock trailer with the popular 7' height option. We call this a Deluxe Stock to call attention to the fact that it has 7' interior height, floor mats, spare tire and some other niceties (such as door tiebacks) that usually aren't included in a stock trailer price.
That 7' height makes this trailer suitable for horses as well as livestock. Even though we call it a Deluxe Stock, more often than not, it's purchased as a horse trailer. This versatile 16 footer is our most popular stock trailer. The 16' length offers two compartments of approximately 8 feet, so it can easily carry 2 horses in separate box stalls or up to 4 smaller horses (just make sure they get along!).
This particular one has a body width of 6 feet, but Calico offers a variety of lengths, widths and heights, in bumper pull or gooseneck hitch. Calico's been building high quality, affordable trailers since 1983. Part of the appeal of a Calico is its functionality and part of the appeal is appearance. The Calico rounded nose looks good, but it's also good for aerodynamics. Calico's multi-step prep & paint process produces a glossy finish, but there's more - Calico caulks seams to minimize the chance of rust formation in areas where it's hard to get paint to penetrate. And in 2016, they went to a 2-part urethane finish with hardener. In our experience, their old acrylic finish held up well, but Calico's tests indicated that the urethane would be more resistant to nicks and scuffs. Urethanes have been on the market for quite a while, so it's a proven technology.
Per our standard practice, this trailer is better equipped than many stock trailers you'll find. In addition to the extra height, this one has BRAKES ON BOTH AXLES (brakes on one axle are standard on Calico, but we specify brakes on both axles for added safety), a spare tire & more.
