Many of you reading this are probably familiar with Brenderup trailers, but if not, here's an important thing to know about them - You don't need a truck to tow a Brenderup! And with that as introduction, here's a very clean 2005 Brenderup Baron TC that came in recently. It's a private-sale trailer we're showing at our dealership. The trailer is extremely clean. We’d normally say that the owner took very good care of it. We’re showing it for the second owner, so in this case, we’re tempted to say that it’s been owned by two meticulous owners.
The Baron series is for two horses to 18 hands. The "TC" indicates that this model has Brenderup's patented InstaTack dressing room. A very impressive feature of the Baron TC is that it's a dressing room trailer with a loaded tongue weight of only 250 lbs. For comparison, the typical dressing room trailer has a loaded tongue weight in the 700-900 lb. range. The lighter tongue weight and aerodynamic shape are two reasons why Brenderups can be towed safely by many of today's more fuel efficient mid-sized SUVs and trucks. Brenderup trailers have been in production since the early 1950s, so their easy-towing designs are well proven.
The Baron is loaded with safety and convenience features and constructed of durable, low-maintenance materials. The interior is bright & inviting. There's a large fixed window at the front and a 5-way opening window near each horse's head for light and ventilation. You can run the trailer with the rear storm panel up or down. With the storm panel in the open position, there's even more light and ventilation. The roof is cool white fiberglass and the walls are Solid Phenolic Core (SPC) panels. The walls are about 1/2" thick, which contributes to quietness and low heat transmission. The chassis is of tough & durable galvanized steel.
Each butt bar has 3 positions. As you lower the bar, it also shortens the stall. The logic here is that if the horse is shorter in height, it’s likely shorter in length as well. The butt bars feature spring-loaded latches that are quick & easy to use. No need to spend a lot of time in the kick zone fiddling with a finicky latch. The chest bar and butt bars fit snugly, the absence of rattles contributing to a quiet interior. The trailer has rubber floor mats, split along the center line (i.e., under the stall divider) to make them easy to handle. This one is offered with the optional head divider, which can be seen leaning against the front wall in the horse area.
Now for a few words about the InstaTack dressing room. During travel, the hinged tack compartment lid is secured in the down (horizontal) position. In this position, the lid is below the large front window, so plenty of light is admitted into the horse area. When you reach your destination, pivot the tack lid to the vertical position and you have a standing height dressing room. (And remember, that's a dressing room in a trailer with a loaded tongue weight of only 250 lbs.) The nicely equipped InstaTack dressing room contains two saddle racks, bridle hooks and a blanket bar. For convenient access, there's a lockable door on each side of the dressing room. This trailer is equipped with the optional Saddle Boss molded saddle racks.
Brenderup's standard ramp is 5 feet tall rather than the more common 4 feet. The tall ramp produces a comfortable incline for loading and unloading. The ramp mat has convenient toeholds for traction. Brenderup's ramp design has two gas springs which make it surprisingly easy to lift. As we mentioned earlier, there's a storm panel above the ramp. Most folks travel with the panel down, but it’s ok to travel with it up or down.
As with other Brenderup models, there are smooth-riding torsion axles with shock absorbers and Inertia brakes. With Inertia mechanical brakes, you don't need a brake controller in the tow vehicle. As you apply the brakes in the tow vehicle, Inertia brakes apply braking force automatically in proportion to the load in the trailer. Simple, effective and well proven.
We invite you to stop by and check out this very nice Brenderup Baron TC. If you'd like a dressing room trailer, but don't have a large tow vehicle, this could be the trailer for you. Private Sale on display at Traveled Lane Trailers.
