Here's a well-kept 2004 Brenderup Baron One TC that recently came in for us to show as a private sale. As with all Brenderups, you can tow the Baron One safely with many of today's smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles. What's neat about the Baron One is that it has the size to accommodate one horse up to 18 Hands AND, rare in a one-horse trailer, this TC model has a dressing room - Brenderup's patented InstaTack. Pop up the tack compartment lid after you arrive at your destination and you have a standing-height dressing room - InstaTack! The owner hates to see her faithful Baron One go, but she now needs to transport two horses!
Unlike narrow one-horse trailers of the old days, the Baron One has a generous 51 inch body width - the stall isn't quite a box stall, but it's roomy! The Baron One TC weighs approximately 1700 lbs. and carries only about 5% of its weight on the tongue. Even with a large horse & tack on board, the Baron One should put only 170 lbs. or so on your hitch. A conventional 2 horse trailer (without dressing room) typically puts more than 400 lbs. on the hitch, so it's easy to see why you don't need a huge vehicle to tow the Baron One. Less weight is easier to pull. Less tongue weight helps keep the tow vehicle level - better for steering control.
Brenderups feature a sophisticated (but simple) chassis design that doesn't require a heavy tongue weight for directional stability. Brenderup trailers have been in production since the early 1950s, so the design is well proven. Another well-proven design is Brenderup’s mechanically-activated Inertia Brakes. As you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, Inertia brakes apply braking force smoothly & automatically in proportion to the load in the trailer. And Inertia Brakes don’t require electricity, so you don’t need a brake controller in the tow vehicle! Simple, fast-acting & reliable.
Here are some notable features on this Baron One TC: Solid Phenolic Core (SPC) walls – tough, quiet & durable, with low heat transmission * Long-lasting galvanized steel frame * Strong but light unitized construction * Groom door for easy access to your horse * InstaTack Dressing Room with saddle racks, bridle hook, blanket bar AND a convenient seat * Adjustable height butt bar with quick-action latch * As you lower the butt bar, it also shortens the stall * Adjustable height chest bar * 5-way opening window on each side * Large, tinted front window * Easy-lift 5' tall rear ramp; ramp mat has convenient toeholds * Rear storm panel - run with it up or down (for additional light & ventilation) * Smooth-riding torsion axles with Shock Absorbers (you won't find those on most trailers!) * Inertia Brakes on all wheels * Radial tires, including spare tire * Owner-installed cargo carrier on the trailer tongue
Please note that the trailer had soft spots in the rear corners of the floor. Before the trailer was brought in for display, the owner had the corners injected with epoxy and cover plates installed (see above). There is a soft area on the floor edge at the base of the groom door. The shop that repaired the floor corners applied sealant to the floor edge in that area (also shown above).
We invite you to stop by and check out this Brenderup Baron One TC. They don't often come on the market and they usually sell fast! Private Sale on display at Traveled Lane.
