Here’s a nicely kept 2003 Brenderup Prestige HB. The Prestige is a 2H straight load for horses to 16 hands. A very appealing feature of this trailer (and Brenderups in general) is that you don’t need a truck to tow it safely. The empty weight of the Prestige is about 1550 lbs. and the loaded tongue weight is under 200 lbs. (Compare to 400-500 lb. loaded tongue weight for a typical 2H BP.) The trailer body length is approximately 10 feet and interior height is 7’4”. This is a private sale trailer that we’re showing at our dealership.
This Prestige is equipped with the convenience features equestrians have come to expect from Brenderup. The chest bar offers 3 height adjustments. The butt bars offer 3 height adjustments as well, and each wall mount is angled so that as you lower the butt bar, it also shortens the stall. The butt bars feature quick-action latches that are very easy to use and yet fit tightly for quietness. We’ve included some pictures to highlight the stall adjustability features.
For light & ventilation, there’s a a fixed window in the front of the trailer and a 5-way opening window near each horse’s head. The trailer can be run with the rear storm panel up or down, and with the panel open, there’s even more light and ventilation.
Many trailers have a ramp that’s 4 feet tall. The Brenderup ramp is a generous 5 feet tall and thanks to two assist struts, it takes surprisingly little effort to lift. The ramp mat has integrated toeholds for good grip as your horses go on and off the trailer. And while we’re on the subject of ingress and egress, there’s a wide groom door forward of the left stall.
The trailer features a durable galvanized steel frame and a cool white fiberglass roof. The wall panels are of Baltic Birch laminate core with bonded inner & outer skins for color and weather protection. This Prestige has the standard galvanized kick panels and the floor mats are split along the centerline of the trailer to facilitate easier handling.
Suspension is by smooth-riding torsion axles and there are even shock absorbers (you won’t find shock absorbers on most trailers). The Prestige features Brenderup’s familiar Inertia mechanical brakes, which don’t require you to have a brake controller in the tow vehicle. Further, as the tow vehicle decelerates, Inertia brakes apply braking force automatically in proportion to the load in the trailer. Very simple and effective. Four new tires were just mounted and there’s even a spare tire.
The trailer is being sold with the following owner-added accessories: trailer tie, hay net and Trailer-Aid (for changing tires).
