Description: Traveled Lane Trailers, Inc.

This clean 2007 Brenderup Baron TC just came in for us to show as a private sale. The Baron series is for horses to 18 hands, yet thanks to a light tongue weight and aerodynamic shape, it can be towed safely by many of the popular small and mid-sized SUVs and trucks.

The “TC” indicates that this Baron has the popular InstaTack convertible tack compartment. Travel with the tack lid down and let light stream in through the tinted windshield. At your destination, flip the lid up to create a compact and well-equipped dressing room. Thanks to the clever patented InstaTack design, the Baron TC is a dressing room trailer that’s about the same length as a regular 2-horse.

Domestically-produced horse trailers typically carry 10-15% of their load on the hitch, resulting in loaded tongue weights in the 600-800 lb. range. By contrast, a Baron has a loaded tongue weight of about 250 lbs. The light tongue weight helps a smaller vehicle remain more level for more predictable handling and contributes to a smoother ride over the undulating surfaces not uncommon on rural horse country roads.

This Baron is manufactured of long-lasting materials. The walls consist of Solid Phenolic Core (SPC) panels. The rugged chassis is of corrosion-protected galvanized steel. The roof is of tough and durable fiberglass. This one received a new floor of pressure-treated wood planks a few years ago. New extra-load radial tires were just mounted.

A popular feature of Brenderups is their mechanically-actuated Inertia brakes. As the tow vehicle slows, Inertia brakes apply braking force automatically in proportion to the load in the trailer. There’s no need to adjust a brake controller because with Inertia brakes, you don’t need a brake controller in the tow vehicle. Inertia brake actuation relies strictly on the laws of physics. No electronics to fail, no fluid to maintain and no brake lines to rust out. Inertia brakes are simple, reliable and well-proven over millions of miles of real-world use.

While the Baron can accommodate horses to 18 hands, thanks to adjustable chest and butt bars, it can accommodate smaller horses as well. The chest bar offers 3 height positions. The butt bars have 3 positions and the mounts are angled so that as you lower a bar, it also shortens the stall for the smaller horse. The butt bars have fast-action spring-loaded latches to get you out of the kick zone quickly. In addition to the ease of use, the stall hardware fits snugly to keep things quiet.

Further to the comfort of your horses, the SPC wall panels are about ½” thick, so there’s no hollow ringing and in our experience, the SPC wall material transmits essentially no heat. And since the question often comes up, yes, the stall divider can be swung aside and is easily removable. This Baron comes with the optional see-through head divider that’s easily installed or removed.

At the rear, the ramp is 5’ tall for a gentle incline while loading and unloading. The ramp mat has molded-in toeholds and ramp assist is provided by a pair of very effective gas springs. Unlike torsion springs that provide less assist as a ramp goes up, gas springs provide a high level of assist throughout their travel. There’s also an easy to use flip-up storm panel. Most folks run with the panel down for additional light and ventilation.

Up front, there’s the “windshield” as mentioned earlier and there’s also a 5-way window near each horse’s head. “5-way” refers to the fact that each window may open to 5 positions. The bright & quiet interior makes for an inviting environment for your horses.

This Baron has a groom door on each side. There’s a door on each side of the InstaTack as well. The InstaTack is well equipped with a pair of saddle racks, bridle hooks and a blanket bar. This particular trailer comes with new-in-packaging trailer cover and butt bar pads.

If you’d like the freedom of having your own trailer but don’t want to purchase a larger or dedicated tow vehicle, this could be the trailer for you. Warm weather will soon be here and with it the spring trailer-buying rush. Beat the crowd. Stop by and check out this clean, well-maintained 2007 Brenderup Baron TC!
