Hi everyone, I am new here.  and Stumped!  I bought an excellent 03 Featherlite straight load, the kind with the walk through to the dressing room..well, my mare has decided she wants to walk through the opening and try to get out.  Anytime she is unhooked, she tries to push through.  She is not a great trailerer.  I hate to have to sell this as it is in excellent condition, but I have become very hyper about it  I have tried tieing a trailer tie between the manger and the divider, but she trys to go under it.  Any idea on something I can put there?

Is there no door for the walk through? If there is a door, just keep it shut when she is in the trailer. I have a horse that always tried to follow people out the escape door in the first stall. Easy fix- never put her in the first stall. If no door then then what about one of those stall guard nets or something? Many horses don't think a single rope is much of an obstruction, but given something a bit more solid and she may reconsider.Just a thought.

Yes it has a dressing room door, but the open area is about 20-22 inches ...the divider ends about 25 inches before the manger so you can freely walk between the area.  And yes, the link is the exactly like the trailer.  I do not leave the dressing room door open.

Thanks...

OK, picture is worth a 1000 words.Yeah I would try a stall guard or something across that empty space. Obviously the single rope isn't doing enough to discourage your horse from going up into the "hallway".Something like this may help:http://www.doversaddlery.com/web-stall-guard/p/X1-2711/cn/186/
