Can anyone give me some advise (pro's/con's) on a silver star trailer.  I think it is a 2003 4H star lite with custom L/Q.  used trailer prices seem to be all over the place. I don't know what is a good or bad price.  Also, what about the quality of these trailers vs others.

Do a search here for Silver Star. There has been several threads on them. Most I can tell you is that they are no longer in business.

I own a Silver Star Starlight Supreme 2 H GN Slant load with 3 1/2 ft short wall DR.  We are currently installing a DYI living quarters upgrade.  I think the trailers were very well made for the money.  I did a lot of research before I purchased this trailer and have not been disappointed.  I'm bummed because they are no longer around.

I own a 2005 Sliver Star,4-H 10 ft long wall, and LOVE IT,,,my husband put my LQ's in for me, and even if the company has went under, it is one of the best trailers out there, Ive had no problems and know that there are enough part places out there if any thing happens to fix
Hopefully the workers can get it going again, that was the last I heard

I have a 99 Silver Star and LOVE it. Hubby and I are going to do a weekender package in mine. I cant wait.I have already camped in it a few times. I love the fact that the Horse area roof is insulated as well. These are good made trailers. I would buy another in a heartbeat.

I was a dealer for Silver Star and was the last Factory Rep for them in the Midwest before they closed.  I have a lot of knowledge about Silver Star so I thought I would answer your question.

Silver Star was a very well made trailer from frame to roof.  They were sold to people with many different breeds and uses.  Your Silver Lite is a slick side trailer (no corrugations on the side), has a 1.5 inch thick I beam floor system instead of the 2 inch on the Supreme model.

The quality of the trailer is very good and the only reason they closed was lack of operating capital.  Over 100 were on order before they closed but had no operating funds to build what dealers wanted to stock.

Don't be afraid to own a Silver Star, they were an awesome trailer for the money. Many parts if you need them are similiar to a Sundowner from which the Silver Star was copied from.

We have a 2001 (build date 12-2000) Silver Star, Star Lite Supreme, 2033MA. Three horse slant, 7' straight wall dressing room, with a 42"sw x 84"lw mid-tack. 21' awning, A/C, all lined and insulated, stud dividers, ramp, generator, etc. We now use this as our "run around trailer". We use our 6H2H Cherokee Super Chief to get us to the shows and the Silver Star for trail riding, doctor visits, etc. We have never spent a dime on it for anything other than general maintenance. I was in the market for a 6 horse H2H Silver Star about the time they shut down, so we bought a Cherokee.

There are dealers that have brand new 2005, 2006, and 2007 Siver Star trailers on their lot. These trailers are new, never had a horse loaded in them nor have they ever been sold or titled. The company "Silver Star" has closed it's doors, it no longer exists, ( I have not seen any official notice that Silver Star is no longer building trailers, just what we on here have assumed over the past year or so)......What kind of warranty do these trailers have? Who's going to be there when the roof leaks, a frame rail cracks, the paint blisters, etc.? If you buy one, are you on your own? Is it all up to the dealer on what kind of warranty you get/have? It would be hard for me to buy a new trailer that was build by a company that is no longer in business.....I would have to get one hell of a good deal on it for me to fork over that money. How do the banks look at this situation when it comes to financing? The resale can't be that good, and I don't think they will become collector items in the next few years. I have a Silver Star and have thought about selling it, but it's too nice of a trailer to get rid of and when we need it, we need it. But, it can't be worth as much now than it would have been if the company was still in business.

redman, so far as price goes, I can't help you. Just so long as you are satisfied with what you are willing to pay, then have at it! Happy hunting!

I really love my trailer and would not think about selling it anyway, but if a used Silver Star was in good shape, why would you not consider purchasing it.  If it was a used trailer of any other brand, would you expect the manufacturer to honor the original warranty?  You would not get that kind of service on most motor vehicles.

That said, I would not pay original mfg. suggested retail on a new/old trailer either.

I wanted to ask for some help locating the junction box in the trailer from the pigtail running from the truck. I have a 2003 4h LQ and before I go hunting and tearing stuff up if you have an idea. I see the pigtail run into the nose of the trailer but the cabinets at the head of the bed do not have an easy access. Thanks

The interior company may or may not have left an access point. Silver Star interiors were third party installed. You'll just have to carefully poke around and remove paneling as required.
