My trailer, unlike most I've found in the example websites, did NOT come with a built in bench/bootbox/storage space.

I'm having to build one so I have a hiding place for my water tank/water pump. My DH and I are disagreeing on how to build it.

I want to use plywood and 2x2's as support beams. He thinks I need to use 2x4's.

What would anyone else use? Be specific.

Thanks

1/2" plywood sides, a 3/4" plywood top and 2x2's will make a very secure bench/bootbox. Screw and glue the joints.

Thanks!!!

I kinda thought that would be sufficient. I made a giant show-box when I was in Ag many years ago and I still have it. It has no support structures, its just plywood screwed to plywood and I have and still do climb all over it (its laying on its side, out in the weather, by my arena now - it stores my stereo system for my arena).

I guess this is one of those projects I'll have to do when he isn't around. LOL!!

The one in my trailer is plywood and 2X2's, seems plenty strong. Unfortunately it really wasn't made to hold anything, just a step to get into bed and a place to mount the gas detector.

I had just asked the same question about dimentions. Ususally they seem to say to be 24-30'' wide (as far out as some doors will allow),  18-20'' tall.

I think the you will find that you will be using the boot box as a seat quite a lot.  Make it the height if a chair that you are comfortable on.  Remember to allow for a cushion if you plan to have one.

A number of chairs are typically 17" -18" inches high without the cushion. Having the box this high also makes it a good initial step for the bunk area.
