I'm trying to use a 6 pin plug for a Featherlite trailer. EVERYTHING works EXCEPT the breakaway battery charger. According to the schematics, there is an orange wire for that purpose in the factory trailer harness. Is that orange switched hot, always hot or ? Anybody got a guess.....could it be a trailer relay under the hood? Like I said, everything else works, I just can't get power to aux./battery charger.

Well, I have checked with ignition "on", but without the truck running. There is a relay under the hood, I've replaced it with a known good one with no success. I've also put a tester on the main orange (aux power) wire heading to the back of the truck with no luck....I'll try with engine running. I'm about at my witts end!!

My SD Ford only supplies aux power with the truck's ignition on and the engine is running. Any charger hooked to this circuit would charge whenever the engine was running. This type of circuit will not allow the truck batteries being drained by an aux trailer power usage.

Maxi fuses have gotten to be pretty common, should be able to pick one up at any of your local parts stores. Next question is.... what caused that one to blow? Better pick up an extra fuse in case the problem is in the truck wireing and it takes ya a while to get it tracked down. Talk to y'all later...
