New to this forum as I am, I have seen various older messages relating to Trailers and reliability etc. and just wanted to let you all know that my wife and I (who actually come from England) are currently trailering our two horses all around the Country using a new DreamCoach 3-horse LQ and towing it with a Ford F350 dually 1 ton truck.  Our "crazy" adventure can be seen on our website - http://www.horsequestusa.org/

If you are concerned about reliability, then all I can tell you is that in the last 7 months we have visited 32 different States and travelled over 25,000 miles with this rig and we are still going strong.  Strength was the key factor for us in choosing DC along with the fact that it is all aluminium and won't rust!  We also wanted to make sure the horses were as comfortable as possible so added mangers, rumber flooring, insulated roof, a rear ramp and air-ride suspension to the trailer - they love it and it is just like a stable on wheels to them.

"Ride the Dream" is our tag-line, but you'd think DC would want to latch on to it wouldn't you, and before anyone says anything, we had to pay hard cash for our trailer, so no, DC haven't paid us anything to say any of this!

Ride the Dream, pull a DreamCoach!

Hi Again. We were camped across from you at the Bar 50 Ranch. We had the 4 Star 4H. Our saddle mules were on the other side of you and woke you up every morning.

Hi Mindy, how are you doing?

It seems an age since we were there in sunny Arkansas, and yes we do remember the mules!  Will you be going up to the Best of America trail in Ohio at the end of the month - it's the last one this year I think?  If so we will see you there!

Wow - What a great trip, you truly are living a dream. Are you still in New England?

Best Wishes,
Steve

Yes, we've just arrived in Maine from Massachusetts, and still have New Hampshire, Connecticut & Rhode Island to get to, then we are headed off to Ohio by the end of the month for a Best of America by Horseback ride

Hey. This is really neat what you guys are doing. I'm sure a lot of us wish we could be in your shoes. Have you been down South yet?

Our first official ride was at Lakeview plantation in SC back in March and we have been on the road since then.  We are however planning to head south to Georgia and Florida as it gets colder up here in the North East.  We also still have to ride in Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California in the South.

Yes there are a lot of people who would love to be able to do what we are doing, the truth is we can't really afford it either and we certainly are having a lot of financial challenges but we one day made the descision to do it what ever it took and here we are!  Older(by a good deal more than I had expected) and wiser!  But as i have seen recently, 'What matters in life is not the number of breaths that you take, but the moments that take your breath away'

Anyone wishing to do a similar trip should however think very seriously about the pros and cons.  It is not as easy as it sounds!!

Where do you plan to ride (and stay) in CT? I'm down near the RI border. I was thrilled to see what you had wrote about Tom Seay - His show is one of my favorites.

I'm not sure if I will be able to make the Ohio ride after I told Tom & Pat that I would. I'm leaving in a day or two to go on to the QH Congress for several weeks. I am also trying to fit in a ride with friends at Hocking Hills while I am there. It just depends on how smoothly things are running here at the homestead. We are a few weeks behind on weaning since we had a horse come in that shed a virus even though it had current health papers and no symptoms. All mine are well vaccinated but the sucklings all developed slightly running noses and coughs. So, now I have to wean when I get back from the Congress. If all goes well, I can then leave again after a few days and head back to OH for that ride.
Don't forget our standing invitation to come stay for a while if you want to.

Conneticut... we are waiting to hear from someone that was going to organise something at the other end near New York.  But however we were planning to stay at Stepping stone Ranch or the horsecamp nearby, in Arcadia Park for Rhode Island so we could do our Conneticut riding near there.  So you must be not too far from there?

Mindy

Sorry to hear about the virus, so far we have been lucky the only problem I have had is an eye infection with Roo, I could even have given it to her because not a week before i had it too, although believe it or not it was harder for me to get medication!!!  Hope all the youngsters are well on the way to recovery and you can enjoy Congress.  Would also love to catch up with you in Ohio.

Yes, depending on where in RI I'm only about 20 to 30 minutes from the border. We're within days of having a baby (huma, not equine) so my wife and I aren't in riding mode, but it would be very neat to meet you 2 and your horses. You'll love RI, it's one of my favorite areas. Best Wishes, Steve
