We recently got our first issue of Trailblazer magazine three months after we subsribed... I think the appearance is great, but it is all "fluff" and no real meaningful material... I will stick with Trailrider magazine, thanks...What is everyone elses opinion??

I have let all my other subscriptions go and just take the TrailRider magazine now.  It is the only one that really interests me anymore.  Like you said, the others were just so much "fluff".

RIDE ON!

I've gotten Horse Illustrated for years, but letting it go. Seems like they have the same articles each year (foal season, building a barn, trail riding and so on) Going to stick with Trail Rider it's my favorite.

I've let Trail Rider go and kept Trail Blazer.

The reason I let Trail Rider go is because I received an email stating a "special" discount was being given to me for renewing my subscription. I clicked the link and it took me to the renew page, but no special pricing was being offered. I called Trail Rider to inquire about the "special" discount. I was expecting $5 bucks off the subscription price like some other magazines offer. Well, the rude rep said that the email was just a marketing campaign and no "special" is really offered. I expalined that the email seemed like false advertising and I would renew for $5 bucks off.. she basically said she didn't know how to get her computer to do that and really didn't care to keep me. So I let the subscription expire. Heck, they spent more money than $5 trying to get me to come back with all those junk mailings. I'm still getting them and it's been over 8 months.

Trail Rider seems to focus on the East and West Coast areas too. And the trail riding articles don't provide enough detail on the ammenites, trails, camp conditions etc. for trail riding places. But to each his own. My neighbor and I swap horse magazines, so we are saving money that way too.

I love Trail Blazer. There is more information on different places to camp, it seems to me. I like both magazines. They have different formats with great information.

I really like Trail Blazer. I don't think there is a lot of fluff at all. Right now you can subscribe for $19 online. Here's a linky to the website. http://www.trailblazermagazine.us/

No I don't work for them. Just passing along a bargain to other horse peeps.

I get Trail Rider and I used to get Trail Blazer. I got about 3 issues of Trail Blazer, and suddenly syopped getting it. After several phone calls, I got one or 2 back issues in a hand addressed envelope...then no more. More phone calls, but no more issues (I had paid for 2 years). I finally gave up. My only guess is that the bar code on the label used to sort mail was incorrect, because I was getting the hand addressed mags. I was dissapointed because I really liked Trail Blazer.

Why don't we just start a blog right here to promote trail riding in the midwest part of the country???? I get both mags now, but find that the focus Is on the east and west... There are a whole lot of great trails around in the midwest with lots of variety...

I agree with calamityj! I don't mind learning about other places to ride and camp, but with the price of fuel, we will keep are trips short. we live in oklahoma and ride in missouri, arkansas also. We only get trailrider, it is ok, but would rather see more on camping!!!!!

Now, that sounds like a plan. I live in OK as well but we have ridden all over the place.
