Can I use duct tape for the insulation installation or does it have to be aluminum tape? What are the pro's and con's of tape vs. glue?

I would use glue.  Extreme temp. changes over the seasons can cause tape to lose it's adhesiveness.

Thank- you.  Is a squiggle line down the middle enough?

Hi Memory,

If you use glue make sure you get stuff that won't eat the insulation. Just bead it from top to bottom in a "squiggle". I would not use duct tape as I have experienced that when it gets hot, it will come undone. The aluminum, I've found, works much better.

hmmm... that's interesting... glueing the insulation.

I love using the alum tape - it means I can tape to the "beams" and cover any gaps; plus, I can piece together scraps of insulation to completely fill a section.

I bought both the regular on the roll and the stuff that has the backing to it. I haven't had any trouble with it working loose. (I haven't finished paneling over the insulation in the ceiling yet.)
