If you dont need anything over a 3000 watt generator I honestly would buy the Yamaha 3000Si boost(?) A friend of mine has one and its been used really hard. Nothing but periodic maintenance is all its had. In my opinion it sounds like a 12v air compressor. He used it in the bed of the truck just pulled out from underneath the trailer tongue and fired it up. I can't remember how many hours it ran on tank of gas but it was really long time for small tank. It also was alot quieter than the 4000 Onan that I had. if you need something bigger I would go with Onan/Honda.

Generally, " Inverter" type generators are the quietest. Honda,Yamaha,Kipor all within a few db. of each other and regarded as very quiet. I have a Yamaha, most are suprised to find it is even running. Rich

We just got a Honda 3000EU and are amazed at how quiet it is. It is big enough to fire up our 13,500 AC unit. All camping type generators are rated for decibels so you can compare. This one is rated 48-58 Db. It also only weighs 134#, so is easy to move around.

When comparing the generators, you have to look carefully at the rating. You may have two that are 65db but then one could be from 10ft and the other from 20ft.

We are considering buying a generator for our living quarters to use when we camp. What is the most quiet one on the market. Thanks, Ruth
It's going to depend on the size of the generator you need also. The 3000 watt ones are pretty quiet, but, they won't run everything in an LQ. I borrowed a friend's Honda 3000 while our Onan was in the shop. We would have to turn off the AC to use the microwave and coffee maker or it would kick the breaker.
We have found that quietness in a generator at horse shows is overrated as the quiter our's is, the more we can hear other people's noisy generators.
