What is the difference in power converters and why should I have one on my gooseneck trailer? I plan on finishing it out, and someone told me that a power converter would be a good thing to have. I've seen a wide price range on Ebay, and I'm not sure what kind I should get. Can anyone help make this clearer? How will it benefit my future weekender living quarters? Thanks!!

Among other things, the power converter converts 110 from the power hookup to a 12v output for your lights and other 12 volt applications. If you plan to ever use your LQ without a 110 hookup you will need the 12 v lights etc that run off a battery....which the power converter also serves as a battery charger while hooked to 110.....there is more to know but a simple explanation....

There are also differences in converters that allow you to run AC appliances off DC. The more expensive kind is better for your PC or laptop if that is a consideration.

Yes Flyinghfarm, that's the one I'm talking about. The dealer said it should charge up my battery when hooked up to the campground electric. Gosh, it'd be great to run the AC off a battery, but I'm a realist. A fan, some lights, and maybe the microwave or fridge would be enough (realist?...hmmm, maybe not.)

Hi there... If you get a converter, I wouldn't get anything smaller than a 45 amp. Three good brand are Atwood, Parallax and Elixir. Get the all in one unit. It is a converter/charger. It will hold your 110 v breakers and your 12 v fuses. It should take care of all that you need.
