Short Bed, 8' Trailer....you know the drill. What do you think is better? The Ball extension or the coupler extension??

The ball extension would be the only one that would give you extra room.  If you think about it, with a coupler extension on, and a trailer @ 90 deg. to the truck, you've done nothing to add clearance.  However, with a ball extension @ 90 deg., you've moved the trailer back 4".

On GM trucks this is not an option as the crossmember for the bed is above the axle. So the ball cannot be. I know this cause I just put one in less than a month ago. I bought the extend-a-ball, it's called from B/M.

I got the pop up hitch extender. Moved the trailer back about 9 inches and I can jack knife it without a problem. I have a short bed F250.
