Hello, currently planning a DIY LQ.
Have seen various trailers with either 5 1/2" round or 6 1/2" round speakers through the side wall. Mainly Featherlite trailers, which is what mine is. The walls are .040 whites alum. sheet, on the outside, 1" alum framing...all factory. Many LQ conversion companies screw 7/16" OSB over the studs and then glue the finish paneling over that.
But what is done about the mounting depth of the speaker? Or is there a certain brand that is used because of this?

We always use Sonance Symphony Extreme speakers. They are 2.5" thick, rated at 60 watts and are waterproof. I have used them in all type of horse trailers, RV's and homes. They hold up extremely well.

There are a number of marine speakers that might work, some shallow, some surface mount. They would stand up well, you could certainly hose them off if needed.
