Hey all- just purchased a Logan Coach XTR 2 horse BP and LOVE it! Wow, built like a tank.

Problem is it is one of those bulldog couplers which takes a 2-5/16 ball, when I go to unhitch the ball won't release from the coupler! The coupler is "open" but it just won't fall out. It's like the ball is just a tiny bit too big but going to a 2 inch would be too small. Any tricks out there? I have to jump up and down on the bumper to get it to release!! Thank you!!

Is your ball greased? I had to jump on mine to get the ball out at first too, with some Vaseline on the ball it hasn't been a problem.

check for burrs on ball and inside coupler.  also on newly painted bulldog couplers, it may not be opening all the way.  check for paint chips and such around the collar and hinge.  i love a bulldog coupler.

I'd spray the moving parts with WD40 to loosen things up, also check for bits of paint that might be jamming things up. I dribble a bit of axle oil on the ball just before I back up, by the time the ball is under the coupler the oil has run down and distributed itself pretty well.

On the pressed steel couplers (flimsy at best) it sometimes happens that the coupler has been backed into and is no longer round. This seems unlikely on a cast BullDog, but I guess it COULD have been backed into a bit hard at the dealership.

They actually sell lube grease for trailer hitches. It's a good idea to grease your hitch against friction anyway.
