Some of you may have read my post about the blowout on my trailer, and subsequently the spare that went flat even though the pressure was A.O.K. before the trip.    Yes there are tire ghosts, and yes they bother me!!  Check this out.  So today I come home after a long hard day at work and decide to mow the yard to "relax".  AS USUAL, one of the lawn tractor tires is FLAT!  This is nothing unusual because after all they are NEW tires so of course they'll be FLAT!!  Duh . . .  so I drag the thing over to the air compressor and low and behold . . . hanging out of the other new tire is a wire about 14" long.  OH GREAT!!  But now this one is holding air, probably because I didn't pull out the wire.  We grow wires here in Alabama, and we had a pretty good crop this year by the way.  So  I put air in the flat tire, cut all but 1" off the wire in the other tire, popped a beer, said "screw it, I'll mow anyway, wire and all" (probably said something other than "screw it", but this is pretty close), and off I went.  Got the front yard done, called Hubby who of course is on a business trip to who knows where, and gave him the tire report, which I think he also said something like "Ah screw, not again!!).  Hosed the  little buggy down, and headed for the garage.  Had to pass by the pretty Conversion Van which just got a bath and a vacuum, with it's fancy stripe, nice TV/DVD etc.  and GUESS WHAT. . .  Oh yeah, back tire FLAT!!!  Called Hubby who said, was it AGAIN the left front?  Because it likes to be flat, but oh no right rear. .

Maybe I'll try to find an eye of Newt, mixed with wart of Toad and sprinkle it over the place.  Maybe and exorcism?????

Had to vent,  Thanks for listening!

Nancy

Hey Nancy,  At least your tire ghost uses wire;  our tire ghost just removes the air.  And there are tires that just want to be flat, esp on my pony cart.  Best to you...............Jan

Two words Green Slime or any similar product. Not sure it helps for sidewall holes, but should get everything else. Only know this because my Grandparents used to have a Russian Olive tree that dropped thorns that were always getting into the lawn mower tires. Certainly was better than repairing/replacing tires on a regular basis. And what goes better together than 'Screw it.' and popping open a can of beer? (ok, just imagine the pepsi symbol as a beer design.)

The slime will work on the sidewalls as long as the hole isn't to big.  We were using out JD garden tractor to mow our 10 acres of misquite, always had a bumper crop, and had LOTS OF FLATS!!  Just don't wear any clothes you don't want ruined because when a thorn pops out the green goo sprays out of the hole until it seals and that stuff does NOT wash out.

The John Deere guy said the tire was more goo and thorns than rubber when I had the tires replaced.

Ardly,

I have no idea.  Trailer only has 3k miles on it..  I'm going to call the manufacturer tomorrow.  Some people are saying a poor alignment on the axle.  I don't know how that would have happened without me saying "OH Crap!  What did I hit??", but I never said that.  Maybe it came that way???  $380 worth of tires.

Hey, keep those tire ghosts down south!!! Do NOT cross the Ohio river with them! You will be punished if you do............... Man, sounds like you have had one crappy summer/fall. Thing is, I have a tire on my trailer that keeps slowly leaking, so maybe they are already north of the river. Good luck and I'll tell Sonia your problems over Thanksgiving is she comes down.

Don't worry, this ghost followed us south from Indiana!  You can have your own ghost if you want!  Wish I could join you for Thanksgiving, but travelling further south to camp/ride.  Tell Sonia Hi!
