LOTS of 12 volt appliances/tvs available. Camping world, Amazon.com, google. Coleman has 12v items also on their website. If you have access to a plug in but just aren't wired, I drilled a hole in the side of my trailer, covered it with an outside receptacle cover and run an extension cord to an outlet, connect it to a surge protector and can run coffee pots, etc.

Coleman makes a tent light w/a magnet on the back that is great! It lasts forever. I bought mine at Walmart in the camping section. We use them for everything! If you have a steel trailer you can put it anywhere you need light and the heavy magnet will hold it....we use it when hauling hay at night on the tractors and on the wagons. In the house we keep a couple on the frig for flashlights in general or during a storm when the lights go out. Also, I have a tv/vcr that is 110 & 12 volt. I run a 12volt cable from my truck to the trailer to watch movies or tv when we are roughing it. They also make wind up radios that never need batteries.....(I have one of those too.) Small fans run off 12volt (buy them in the automotive section). Just some ideas.

If you have 12v deep cycle batteries, you can get an inverter and run low watt items like tv/vcr/dvd, radio, phone charger ect. Nothing big like hair dryer.

I have a battery and power inverter to run my little 2.5cf refrigerator and charge my cell phone. I use it to keep my frig cool while driving and then use my generator and battery charger to re charge it.

Reg,
I agree. I have no desire to put a TV in my trailer and my cell phone stays locked in the truck. I go camping to get away from all that stuff. Just to sit around the fire and look at the stars or share some laughs with friends is a little slice of heaven for me.
Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy SOME modern conveniences. We have a fridge, a microwave and a coffee pot. But I refuse to put a stove in. If the camp does not feed us, we cook over the fire. And everything is in disposable containers. I am on vacation and I am NOT doing dishes. We have gotten pretty creative over the years with stuff that can be cooked with a minimum of fuss and muss.

I got one of these...it's an inverter, battery and jump starter all in one unit for easy travel. I love it. It works great for running fans, TVs, and small stuff like that. I got mine at Sears.
PS: I second the Coleman magnetic lights...I have about 8 of them and use them inside and outside the trailer...they really are great. I also got an O2Cool fan at Walmart...very light, puts out a LOT of air, and runs 24 hours straight on 8 D Cell batteries. I hang it from a hook in my dressing room in my gooseneck, and it really keeps it cool in there.
