I bought the Arco cordless, think Wahl makes them and they are wonderful. Had two pair of Oster A5s and both got hot immediately. I was skeptical of the cordless as far as how long they would stay charged, but used them all one season without recharging. The best part for me was not dragging a cord around behind my horse or them getting skittish because it was by their face/eye/ear.

I have the Wahl KM (?) with a cord, the cord is very long and sturdy. So far the best clippers I have had. Bought them from countrysupply.com and they came with 2 extra blade sets and a nice case. Oh and they have 2 speeds.

I've been trying to pull up the Whal website, but my internet server is having problems. I cant search for anything right now. Maybe tomorrow it will let me.
How much do they vibrate? My gelding doesn't mind the noise, you can hold them right beside his ears and if they are turned off you can run them along the inside of the ears, but as soon as they are turned on he objects. I think the vibrations tickle him. I saw a pair of clippers (commercial) that you could touch the blades to your hand and couldn't feel the blades moving. Anyone know what those are called?

In our 4-H projects, we use the Oster clippers. We can change the heads to work with shearing sheep, fitting cattle and clipping horses. They are variable speed and work well with our horses. However, they would be too large to clip the inside of the ears with. There is very little vibration.

We have some cordless Wahl clippers that we use on the ears. They work nice. Plus you don't have to worry about the cord touching the horse with them. The Oster clippers cut through the mane with little effort. After all, the ones we use hold up to shearing sheep.

After several cheap clippers we bought a Wahl Stable Pro set and have been very pleased. Still under $100, Very little vibration, and although there is a long soft cord to plug in, My horses dont seem to mind at all.

I've been trying to look up Valley Vet and Country supply for about 3 days. My stupid computer keeps telling me the web page is unavailable and something about not finding the server and a DNS error.
Thanks for the info, when my computer quits acting up I'll look everything up.

terri s,
Maybe the set you had was not set properly with the blade and comb. We don't use the hand held model that much. They key is to make sure that you have the blade and comb adjusted properly (especially on the larger models).

I have a pair of the Wahl Stable Pro and have used them for 6 years now and have been very happy with them. Have used mine for clipping legs, bridle paths, ears, muzzle, etc. I just changed the blades on them last summer from the original ones. I also use those pocket pro clippers but not for ears, just for whiskers before showing. They are handy to have for last minute touch-ups. My husband just purchased a pair of the Wahl Arco SE Moser series cordless for me and they are really nice and quiet. I haven't used them yet on my horse so I am anxious to see how they compare to my ole' Stable Pros.

I have no Idea what this stupid computer is doing. It let me pull up those web sites, but still won't let me get into valley vet, chicks, country supply, or google anything. Any one got a stick of TnT?
I think I'm gonna try and find a phone number for Whal and just call them.
