I have a TWH trail horse. She has a good gait and wears plain flat plates. Our farrier squared off the front toes & shoes to keep her from interfering, which worked well. The farrier has always shod our Quarter Horses and balances the horses feet to fit the horse's conformation.(No long toes for TWH's) He has never used the Natural Balance shoe but said he would try them if I wanted. Question: The Natural Balance shoe has a squared toe and I would like to use them on her front feet. Has anyone used these shoes and did you like them?

My friend shoes her own endurance horses ans swears by them. I have ridden her horses and raced them and they have all travelled good. The one I ride is 1/2 twh and 1/2 arab. he gaits and trots.

If you are interested in the NB shoes, make sure your farrier is trained in how to apply. They require a specific trim to apply correctly. Take a look at this site for more info...www.hopeforsoundness.com Good luck.

Thanks for the website. Maybe I will hold off trying out the shoes untill I talk to my farrier. He has never put these shoes on and I don't want to push him into it. I'm not sure we have anyone in the area trained in Natural Balance shoes. Any suggestions out there? Sounds like there is more to using this shoe and I don't want to mess up my horse or her natural gait.

Your farrier can accomplsh the same effect (imo) by rolling the toes of keg shoes. If your horse is going well, I would be hesitant to mess with the trim/shoeing too much. Happy trails.

(quote) Your farrier can accomplsh the same effect (imo) by rolling the toes of keg shoes (quote)With all due respect, comparing the NB application with "rolling of the toes" is like comparing apples and oranges. They are two very different things.Trails02: if you are truly interested in NB, just look at the mentioned website and contact them thru e-mail or phone. They will be glad to provide you with a list of NB farriers in your area.

We have used the natural balance shoes for about two and a half years now. We have an old barrel horse that we had an arthrocentesis (joint fuse) done on and he needs to be set at 56-57* for better break over... these shoes allow them to break over sooner (front & back) and prevent over-reaching... not all farriers are properly trained for these shoes. BE Careful. good luck
