to those of you who have been worried about my tiny suv towing my horses......worry no more.  got a 2005 gmc 2500hd d/a cc lb 4x4 a week ago. now im only towing at 50% of the bp rating and about 50% of the gcwr rating, hows that for a safety margin?

getting 18mpg (pretty good) around town and 14 towing (not impressed with this).

and where are my larger 3/4 ton brakes?

trailblazer front 12.00 x 1.14 rear 12.80 x 0.78

2500hd   front 12.80 x 1.50 rear 13.00 x 1.10.

the rear axle on the 2500hd is rated more than the gvwr of the trailblazer, even i dont quite understand this one.  no wonder motor trend says it took the 2500hd 30 feet longer, than the trailblazer, to stop from 60mph.  thanks alot gm.

Congrats !!!
Is the d/a for duramax/allison ?
NICE.

Wadda coincidence - I just bought a new Dodgie Dango.
I havn't towed with it yet, it CAN get 24 MPG on the highway, but barely makes 16 around town. It squats 3 1/2 inches with the Jamco hooked up empty, I probably WILL want to put those load distributing bars on..

Yeah, I "got a Hemi in that".

I don't think you will miss the "under trucked" status.

Congrats!!

Hi and welcome to the fun and games.

Sorry, it is how I'm mis-pronouncing Dodge Durango.
Since you're new here, a little history;
Every so often we have the "Too much trailer for that much truck" errr, debate. Sometimes it is "Not enough truck for that trailer", but it comes to the same thing.

Chadsalt has been holding up the "adequate amount of truck" side of the arguement for quite some time, others (including myself) have been holding up the "Yeah, but more is better" side.
I was commenting on the coincidence that he seems to have upsized at the same time that I downsized - not really, I still have the 1-ton.

Chadsalt,

Don't worry about those numbers too much. What impresses me about the Dmax is the transmission, the power, and the overall longevity this truck will give you.

14 towing is great.Big block gassers get HALF that.I get 12/13 towing and my old diesel got a 11 which I liked just fine compared to what others got.

Don't complain! I'm getting about 13-14 with my '91 F-350 pulling a 30' gooseneck horse trailer... about 10,000 pounds. You're getting that mileage with about 100 more horsepower than I have, and that's about average mileage for the newer trucks pulling these loads.

24mpg....wow!...My wife just upgraded from an "02 Dango to an "05" Dango limited Hemi with more bells and whistles 8600# max tow capacity. I don't see 24mpg in the future. The sticker said 18...14....is yours 4x4 reg?

Oh...congrats chadsalt!

Yep, 4x4 with the 2-speed transfer case - which was a MAJOR factor, since it WILL be used for towing the trailer in and out of mucky fields.
5.7 L Hemi, boucoup bells and wistles, sounds similar to your wife's.
That 24 was a couple of miles across town to get to the HIGHWAY, then maybe 40 miles of highway, then another 5 or 6 miles across another town, light traffic, no wheelspin starts from the 3 or 4 sets of lights (-:
I'm optimistic that it will be a nice tow vehicle.

Are we ALL using "Dango" as the term of endearment for these ? (-:
