Not quite ready to review trucks from Shanghai. But I do get allot of email from China wanting to buy used diesel parts or sell me remanufactured parts. I don't respond to any of the emails. That would get me on a million Chinese data bases. But here is the truck, crew cab turbo diesel (Nissan or Isuzu) 5-speed auto. Just a mini-truck though. http://www.hrbf.biz/currentsite/WF4X4PICKUP.htm but don't click on it, or they might think there is demand for their truck. This year at the Detroit auto show will be the first time car manufacture exhibitor from China. There are already some toy trucks in the US, like the ones that patrol Walmart from this company here. They aren't road licensable though, like they won't pass emissions.

Ahhh, like "Toyota Corolla" in the late 60s ?
That little sing-song voice at the end of those ads still haunts me (-:

Seriously, I thought HINO is from China, though maybe Taiwan.
I've seen them at various truck shows, they were low price and didn't seem THAT low quality or lightly built. Not that I did a "fer real" quality eval...

I haven't thought about the sixties in a long time. I was in 8th grade in 1970. But I do remember the Toyota, "oh what a feeling" jingle. Toyota was going to pull the Corrola out of the US and then an American promoter talked them into trying it one more time and the rest is history. Now they are on schedule to overtake GM as the #1 automaker in the world by next summer.

Don't knock those Hinos. My wife and I used on through Kenya and I'll tell you my f350 would be hard pressed to get through the lack of roads. This was the little van that could!!!

I need a motorized wheelbarrow, since I graduated from high school before Mr. Truck was in the 8th grade.

China is stealing manufacturing ideas and making a black market product to sell cheaper.  Why did out parents and grandparents fight against communism and now we are supporting it but buying and manufacturing our product there.  I am boyotting China made products and I wish more people would.

Well Rose someday I'll be reviewing Scooters. The Cricket was close, Mr. Mattern and I drove one of those at Congress inside the buildings. The only place I didn't drive it was in the bathroom. If you want to see motorized wheelbarrows go to the Great American RV ralleys. They are at a different state each summer, but they have Scooter traffic jam just like the golf carts at congress.

I thought he said he was in the 8th grade in 1970.
I don't think he meant the whole DECADE - was that how you read what he posted ?
I might have got it wrong, I'll re-read it.
I think you can work out people's age if you know what year they were in which grade... ummm, assuming they didn't have any "do over"s.
at 6 yo == 1st
13 == 8th == 1970
dob == 1957 ?
Dunno, my math sux.

Pretty good Reg, I was born in 57, don't think I spent the whole decade in 8th grade, though I would have liked to spent a decade in my jr class. Oh if I only knew then what I know now.

If we had ALL known then what we know now...
Maybe everything would have turned out about the same, there being no competitive advantage over those around us who would also have known then what they know now. At least we know now that we didn't know any better then (-:

I try to avoid Chinese products  as much as possible, but I definetly would not buy any blatant chinese products like a vehicle.  China can go pound sand, when they are fair and give American companies access to their markets like we have given them access to the American markets, I'd think about it.   Until then, forget it.  The only chinese products I willingly purchase are Chinese food and Kung Fu.
