Considering buying a gooseneck Living Quarters Trailer and wanting to pull it with a Ford F250 Crew Cab short bed. Will this combination work? I'm concerned about the trailer hitting the cab in very tight turns. Anyone has the combination? The distance from the cab to the center of the axle is 40".

I've seen alot of these trucks pulling GNs with no problems. I have a Chevy DMax shortbed and pull an Exiss GN and have had no problems with cab clearance. If you are concerned about the cab clearance look for a GN with a tapered nose and you can also buy a GN hitch for this problem, think its called a pop-up extender, maybe made by B&W.

We have a short bed Ford w/ a tool box. Our trailer guys took off the regular hitch from the trailer and put on an "SB1 Extended Coupler" for about $300 from www.popuphitch.com. We can get 90 degrees with it. One the same website they have a ball hitch that is extended from insertion point. Wonder if that would work?
Only 2 problems I can see w/ the hitch. 1. When we want to pull with another truck, we have to move the gooseneck hitch so it rides right and the bolts are in the back (just is a pain and akward) 2. I've emailed them and they don't make a lock for it - wish they did ;o(

Ford F350 Crew Cab with a short bed and I have pulled two different Goosenecks. My current is a Classic Bunkhouse. Never had any problems with either trailer. My gooseneck ball is located in the standard location.

Thanks for the replys. Sounds like it should work. A few replies stated the ball was in the "standard location". Exactly what is that location? I've been told anywhere from directly on top of the axle to 6" in front of the axle.

I have a 2002 F250 Crew Cab short bed and pull a 3H GN. My Trailer does have a slanted nose but I have pulled older square models as well. No problems. Be careful of the hitch location. Some of the turn-over ball models will hit the rear end of the short bed truck if you encounter large bumps on the road. Your dealer can mount it properly. I use the Draw tite remov-a ball hitch. Good Luck.

We have a 1999 Ford F-250 super cab/short bed and pull a Platinum Coach gooseneck (not very tapered in the nose)w/living quarters and we do just fine. Our B&W hitch it located 1" in front of the axle (installed by a prof. trailer dealer). We did however change our bed to a flatbed beacuase we do a lot of "backcountry" hauls and were hitting the tailgate with the bottom of the gooseneck on humps.

I have a gn and chevy short bed and have no problems. You need to pay attention the angle on the gn. The more square the gn the problems you will have when turning, you can hit the sides of the cab. My friends had a more square nose and hit the cab of their dodge a couple of times.

I sell the PopUp Shortbed extension every week to someone whom has already hit their cab with their trailer. Some truck/trailer combinations don't need it. It moves your trailer 9 inches back so you have more room also to leave the tailgate down when hooking up and more room infront of the propane tanks. But at 90 degree jackknife you are also 9 inches more to the side, which is where the important extra room is, if your trailer has a double neck gussett like the bigger Hart LQ's, that extra brace can be close to the inside truck wall and bedrail. So do some measuring. I took lots of pictures of a Hart 8' wide using the Popup SB1 on a Ford short bed I installed at http://mrtruck.net/popup.htm
