We have a 3 horse gooseneck trailer with living quarters. When you enter the camper area we step on the running boards to get in. We really would like to find steps to install under the running boards. NOT the normal steps that drop down like you see everywhere but steps that slide straight out. We saw them on a Cherokee trailer at a campground and haven't seen them since. Anybody out there know where I can find this particular kind of steps. p.s. they were factory made not homemade.... Thanks, Ruth

You did not mention what brand you have. Sundowner makes a nice slide out step that mounts under the trailer and slides out. From What I remember, it is welded to the the trailer as well. You might could check with them to see if they could sell just the step and have it welded on for you. On our C&C the step is made to fold down on the side of the trailer.

I happen to have the slide out step on my trailer. But, someone told me it was better to have the flip down because if you catch the slide out step on something, it could rip the whole bottom on your trailer floor out. I think this actually happened to a friend of a friend, and they had to take the LQ out to replace the floor under the LQ part of the trailer. I didn't see it, just heard about it.
CM offers the slide out steps, and I think Cool Horse sell thems.
Check at an local RV place also.

It is an urban legend. I take my trailer onto some rough land aqnd I can honestly say the stepes on the Exiss just collapse when they get hooked. Next time I just won't repalce them.
