Can anyone who has owned a hart trailer explain to me there roof system? Will it hold up well in storm damage or a crash? I am looking at a hart at the congress and am a Elite fan but, this Hart caught my attention and I was concerned on there fiberglass roof. I was in a bad accident two years with a semi tractor and the trailer basically saved my life but not my horse. Any info would be great.

The Hart roof is fiber glass layers on the extreme out side and a foam core. This is very stiff and in my opinion a very strong roof system. The thing that sold me on the Hart is the roof. Not only does it offer some insulating value, but when you open and close the roof vents they feel solid. You will not get any buckling, or oil canning noise when you go down the road like many metal roof trailers

Thank you for explaining the roof on the hart trailers. So is everyone who owns a hart pretty well satisfied with the structure of theres so far? No structural problems with theirs?

But is that the "new" Hart roof? Didn't the Dupont Encore go away a couple of years ago??
The new Cimmaron roof looks like a sheet of plastic cardboard where they had to replace the Encore.

I have a CM and my mother has a Hart - both 2005 models.... Both have the exact same roof material - actually they are very similar in build over all. I've been very impressed with the roof on mine... no problems at all.

Same here, The roof was a big selling factor as was the floor. Go touch an all aluminum roof in the middle of the day in the summer. I've also been walking around on our roof to scrub it down with the wash brush a few times. Is very solid. Structually, they are very sound trailers, I do not think you would be disappointed.

Hart roof is the best in the business in my opinion. I have two Hart trailers one is a two horse bumper. I just finished building a new barn with a raised hall . I had this trailer in the hall with a24' fiberglass ladder streched out on top of it hanging lights in the top. They are real tough. The other is a living quarters trailer and their roof was one of the reasons among other reason that I bought one. Hart and cimarron are very similar except Hart's roof is 5/8 " thick and cimarron is 1/2. You won't go wrong with a Hart the 2 horse is a 97.

Actually there is a big difference in the roofs on the Cimmaron and the Hart. The Cimmaron uses a 1/2" thick "fluted" roof which is very similiar to a piece of cardboard in construction. The Hart uses a "Honeycomb" type core and is 5/8" thick which is considerably stronger and will not sag in the middle and less prone to leaks.

Cimarron and Hart use the same roof material except for the thickness. Cimarron uses 1/2" material and Hart uses 9/16". The reason for the difference in thickness is due to extrusion designs. Both companies use the identical "core" material. In fact, both companies purchase the roof material from the same supplier. The roof material has an R3 thermal insulation value. This keeps the trailer cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
