Can you haul a loaded four horse? Yes. Can you haul it safely? Probably not. I would definitely recommend at least a 3/4 ton truck with a four horse trailer, regardless of what kind of trailer it is.

that is a rather broad statment.  you are aware that the avalanche is avaliable as a 3/4 ton?  5000# for trailer 4 1000# horses is 9000#, several 1/2 tons are rated that high.

ouch,  im not big into brand wars......i havent had much luck with any of them.  although this baby chevy is proving to be a tough sob.

yeah the tranny is my biggest concern on this one, got the biggest tranny cooler i could squeeze in front of the radiator(made the bracket, bleeding knuckles and all).  i really prefer a manual for towing.
