My 4h platinum trailer has a butt bar in the last stall. It has a pin hinge to secure the left side. The right side of the bar is connected to the trailer has loop or D ring that is connected to a loop or D ring that is welded on the trailer. When unloading we remove the pin on the left side and let the bar swing down and sort of tuck it in the right corner. It’s still attached on the right side.I guess this is a common design. I would really like to remove the bar completely from the trailer when unloading. I am concerned about a horse hooking a leg on the other side of the bar while backing out.The bar could get caught between the legs. The trailer has a generator in the last manger. This makes the last slot a little tight so the horse has to back out. Anybody have any experience with modifying the bar to make it removable? Any thought’s?I was thinking of cutting the loop off the bar and securing a quick release. I could then attached the quick release to the trailer loop.I sure wish that generator was on the roof. Thanks in advance!

If it is the rigidity of the bar that worries you, it might be worth considering replacing it with a chain sleeved in plastic hose. I think that would remove the entanglement issue.

if you change it out with a chain you may have to move it up because if you use a chain it has to have slack to be able to hook it you may want to take the padding off the bar then it will not stick out as much when it is droped most horses fell the bar with there hind leg if it moves they will move ther leg over away from it i have seen my horses do this
