I just bought a new LQ trailer today!!! This one has a flush toilet. This will be my first experience with a black water tank. Can anyone give me advice on how to locate dump stations?

Hi,

Most Flying J's, have free dumps, most campgrounds will let people who don't stay there dump for a fee $5 or $10. Some more enlightened states have dumps at the rest areas on the Interstates. The EXIT GUIDE lists them. And finally the web site below show many places.

To add to the above list. Places that SELL RV's often have a dump station for their customers. There is a large RV dealer about 2 miles away from me. They have a very nice facility that can handle two RV's at the same time. The sign reads. "If you enjoy using this facility, please come in and shop with us"

As a builder I have on several occassion installed RV Dumps in new homes that I have built for people. We just install a "Y" in the sewer line and bring a lateral up in the RV pad on the side of the house. We form the cement pad around the cap witha slight slope for drainage, and install a hose bib nearby.

Many people have a 4" cleanout on there sewer lines at home. We did, when we lived in the "city". We used it before we stored our RV after each trip.

True,  most newer homes are required to have a clean out on the sewer. If they are located where you can access them, Great, they will work just fine.

The problem is  they are usually centered on the front of the house and within 2-3 feet of the foundation.  Which usually puts them in the flowerbed.

The concept is the same. If you HAPPEN to be digging up your yard, just install a clean out close by your driveway or RV pad.

I am not sure if you are going to be camping or showing.  Being from TN as well, I just wanted to add that if you are going to be camping, I would check with the campground to make sure they have a dump facility.  There are some places in TN that have sewer connections at each site.  Others will only have one dump station.  If that is the case, you can purchase a "honey wagon" that will let you dump your waste water in it and carry it to the dump station instead of having to move your trailer.
