Steel or Aluminum......the eternal debate continues! I bought my first Stidham steel trailer in 1970. Garage kept, cleaned out after EVERY use, and sold it for what I paid for it in 1992......not bad resale! Bought my second steel Stidham in 1992. Garage kept, cleaned out after every use, and sold it for almost what I paid for it in 2000. Wanted to upgrade, bought my third steel Stidham. Both the 1992 model and my latest were purchased over the phone, sight unseen. We drove from the east coast to Chicksaw, OK to pick up the last one. Steel trailers are now made with gavaNEAL steel, much less prone to rust. In the late 60's my friend's trailer was involved in a rollover, with my horse being one of the occupants. It was a steel trailer....very little damage to the trailer and both horses walked away with minor injuries. I was sold on steel!

I recently rolled my truck and trailer a 2000 aluminum trailer. Thank God it was unoccupied. But, that steel dodge truck was totaled and the trailer got a little dented. I think the engineering has come a long way. Living in Fl. a steel trailer has a short life expectancy. Hope this help you make up your mind.
