I need help in locating my 2005 Elite trailer. It was taken from my yard on 8-3-05. The trailer is a 14ft. short wall two horse. I have exterior photos posted here on trailer world under finished LQ Elite, kansas, 2-horse and under the stolen link.
This trailer should stand out fairly well since there are not too many large living quarters with just a 2-horse. It has green striping on the body and a stainless steel nose with green and burgandy striping with the Elite logo.
The interior was custom finished in light oak and the floor was wood. There were three etched glass mirrors over the bed with horse shoes and a border trimming the mirror. There is a pic of this when the trailer was being completed.
The dinette cushions and window valencies were taperstry material that had Happy Trails and pony express wording. The spare tire cover was black with two trail riders. But this is probably gone now.
If you suspect you have seen this trailer, please contact Miami County Kansas Sherrif Dept. at 913-294-4444 or email me at ponytammy@yahoo.com.

Hi ponytammy,
I feel for you as I know how you feel from experience. I would suggest that you contact this person http://www.netposse.com/ as well and post something about your trailer with her. She is very helpful. I really hope they find it. To give you a ray of hope, they found ours and it was still in good shape minus all the decals and such.

Just a question of curiosity and security? Do the trailer manufactures stamp the vin into the frame anywhere or is it just on that sheet metal that is poprivited on to the tag. I have see some people trailers where people have welded the number on to the frame under the trailer where a thief would not necessarily look. That seems like a wise idea in helping identify a stolen trailer. Any other ideas to help identify a stolen trailer out there?

They way they identified mine was by the axle serial numbers. I called the manufacturer when the sherriffs dept suspected it was our trailer and got the serial number for both axles and... bingo. I know the vin on our new trailer is etched on the frame on the passenger side under the gooseneck and also on the hitch tube. I'd call the manufacturer and get the serials for the axles just to have them in case.

I sure hope you find your trailer!
We really need to paint large number/letters/symbols on the roofs of our trailers (yes, me included) so it's easier to identify especially by air - thieves hopfully wouldn't think to look up there!

That would be a good idea but I bet those lousy crooks would just repaint a different # really fast. I can't believe they had the gall to steal on that is so recognizable though.

One thing about painting numbers and/or letters on the roof: It probably wouldn't take the thieves very long to figure this one out, especially if you have a hay rack.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm almost shocked that someone would actually steal a horse trailer of that size or any size. I live in SC but I'll be watching out for it.
