OK, I don't want to spend a fortune and I do want a weekend quarters. Found a 97 Trailet Jetstar (3 horse slant/4 ft. dressing room) set up as I like with sink, awning, refrigerator, minimal but sufficient comforts, and have a deal pending for $11,500. I am a competent 47 year old woman, but I am no mechanic! Have to drive 500 miles to pick this trailer up. Can anyone clue me in on what I can look for, other than the obvious (evidence of accidents)? It is being sold by an apparently reputable, larger dealer. They are fixing some minor stress cracks in the roof (photo attached), and state no accidents and everything works. What will be my big ticket expenses? Bearings? Brakes? (of course I know about tires and shackles and such). MANY thanks for your help and advice.

It is probably a good thing you are buying this from a dealer than from someone outright as the dealer "should" have everything ready for a potential buyer. Make sure the dealer has checked out everything on this trailer, like the electrical, bearings, brakes and that the plumbing in the dressing room is up to par. Find out what happens after you leave their lot with this trailer before you sign your check. Like if the roof should leak, are you responsible for the repair bill(since they are fixing it right now)? Do they stand 100% behind their service and that this trailer passes inspection for a sale to a customer?
If anything get references for this dealer if you are unsure.
I bought a used LQ trailer from a dealer this spring. I was very comfortable with the sale as this dealer has a marketable reputation, not to mention a super nice staff.

It might not be out of the question to inquire about a short term warranty. I'm sure the dealer wants you satisfied, and a mutual understanding of what he/she will stand behind can be very helpful to all involved.
