So, I got a Prodigy brake controller and had it installed in my truck. I have a 2000 GMC 2500 and a 2001 Hart TB model g/n straight load 2 horse trailer. After we got the brake controller hooked up we tested it out and my truck brakes were still stopping the trailer. It was connected and had all the normal readings and we even set it on boost 3 (should be on boost 2- maybe 1) with the adjuster knob turned all the way up and it still wouldn't work right. I recently hauled another girls trailer to a show EXACTLY like mine but a sundowner and as we were pulling out of the driveway I tried my brakes and they stopped it so hard and I adjusted the controller and it worked FINE the whole way. So is it something with my trailer wires or the brakes on the trailer?! It also flashes not connected a lot during the time I haul my trailer but my lights still work. Whats going on?! Thanks! ~Helen

Your trailer lights are on a separate wire, the brakes should have a 2 conductor cable wired directly from the brakes to the trailer plug. Most trailers have a terminal strip that splices the wiring under the gooseneck. If your prodigy is flashing nc then you have a wiring problem somewhere in your trailer.

sounds like a ground problem. likely in the trailer.

It might be good to take it to a service dealer. They should have testers to find the problem. It will save you and your boyfriend a lot of time.
