I am planning on buying a 4 horse slant load trailer and am looking at Sundowner, Hart and Sooner.  Does anyone have preferences or comments on these manufacturer's?

Thanks!

Hmmm, since no one else is gonna chime in on this one, I'll be the first. LOL! They are all good trailers. You just have to go and compare them yourself and see what you like better and what is going to work best for you and your horse.

Three different people may tell you that Sundowner is terrible or that Hart is bad or that Sooner is to stay away from, but then there will be three more people who will tell you they love this one and that one and so one. It's can be a sad love song to hear people bash one brand over another. These three brands have been around for along time, so what does that tell you. Not to mention finding out what warranties one may offer over another and then service from the dealer you buy the trailer from. You'll KNOW which one to buy.

Have fun trailer shopping!!!

Of the three manufacture that you mentioned, I would choose the Hart. They make the most horse friendlly trailer out of the three, and construction is above average. Before I purchased my trailer, I found a great deal on a used Four Star, I was going to buy a CM, now they are called Cimmarron.

CM is almost identical in build to the Hart. I love mine. Great value too.

If I couldn't have a Platinum, It'd have to be a Hart over your other choices.

Of the 3 that you mentioned, I prefer the Hart.  They are built like tanks.  Older Sooners were great trailers but I think they have gotten cheaper over the last 6 years or so.

I'd go with what everyone else has said, the Hart, but I'm kina bias since we own one. It's built very well and like MBRA518 said Hart 's and CM's are almost identical. In fact when we were trailer shopping those were the two we had narrowed it down to. We chose the Hart and love it. One of the decisions to go with either of those were the floors and the studs used in construction. The floors have supports on 6" centers rather than 12" which we found to be the case in most other trailers. It also helped when your friends with the dealers son and he runs the place, not that that wasn't a factor...LOL.

All three make good trailers.  Look at each and see which features you like on each one. The flooring, door hinges and holds, lights, stall dividers etc. Decide which features you have to have and which you can live without or compromise on.

Compare warranties, it doesn't do much good to have a 3 year bumper to bumper warrnty if the dealer for service is 8 hours away. And of course price is always an issue.  Which trailer gives you the most features that you gotta have for the price.
