Some of you may remember my post about our LQ being damaged due to water over the winter, and insurance was going to repair it all. Well the RV dealer they had quote the job used their contacts and got one of the custom LQ places in Elkhart to do the work sub-contract. Instead of repairing, due to cabinet colors and so on not being available any longer, they are gutting it and putting in a new LQ. I asked if I paid extra if they could install a shower where this huge closet in the bathroom was. Lo and behold they are putting a shower in, and replacing the holding and fresh water tanks at no additional charge! That's the good news. The BAD news: tranny on 03 Super Duty went out Friday night at 38,000 miles. NO WARRANTY, $2300 for a new tranny. Guess I gotta take the bad with the good. Dealership is trying to work with me on it, and actually trying to trade me out of it. Good luck with that one.

I love this ploy - "yah we can't fix it under warrenty - but because this one was a piece of crap maybe we can interest you in a brand new on for too much money - maybe you'll have better luck!".... oh well - good luck with whatever you decide

Hi,so sorry to hear about your bad luck with your truck..My trans went out in my 2001 power stroke at 62000mi.It seams that FoMoCo put inferior trans in the f-250s for the first seven months of production and when they were made aware of the problem they recalled the "gassers" and ignored the diesels...So,if you know of anyone with a 2001 f-250 give them a "heads-up".The tech that repaired my trans said mine was the 15th one (f-250 p-stroke) that he had done in 3mon and all of them had between 60-72K mi on them.I contacted FoMoCo and they said there was nothing that they can do because it was out of warranty also....Grrrrrr

Too cool about the LQ,I'm just getting settled in my new/used 95 4-star 3horse GN.They put the exterior door to the DR on the long wall and botched any plans I had of putting a shower in the inside.I will opt for the "cowby-shower"though.

Has anyone out there ever installed a cowboy shower??? I'd like to hear from an experienced/successful cowboy.

Hey buddy!!! take care and keep the leather side up!!!

Hi,me again....I took my aluminum trailer after I purchased it used to the "Blue Beacon Truck Wash".They are located through-out the US and they "acid-wash" all the big-rigs.Well,it turned my dull, dirty, nasty trailer into a shinny new specimen. All for $30...WooHoo,my friend says she takes her trailer to one of the local trailer dealers and they charge $125.Whoah!!

You don't even have to drop your trailer, just pull in and they do it all while you wait..Even wash your truck too.....:)

I think I saw your trailer today.....a 199? bison. It was at LSR Conversions , in Elkhart on Minor road.. I was checking out their conversions (exxxcellent i may add) and they said they were doing it for a Dealer in Kokomo. If your trailer turns out like the one's I saw  in front of it, your in for a nice treat. As soon as possible mine will be done there also. I really think the American Spirits i saw today from LSR finally convinced the wife that we need a trailer....lol...Still we have to save a bit more  :(      But Lewis and Sherry at LSR and all the staff there were so helpful,,,, I hope That was your trailer i saw today...If so you made a good choice.

My SIL blew a trannie in a recent F350 and got it replaced gratis. I'm not sure of the year or mileage, but will get details that you MIGHT be able to throw at your dealership. It was older than your's for sure.

Great about getting your trailer fixed! Boo about the truck-ready to try a quiet one like mine? I was at B.C. this week-end and had lots of people looking at my trailer. Betty and Chip both saw it - LOVED it! Are you trying to get one that looks like mine on the inside? LSR did my interior. See you down the road.

Nancy, If LSR is doing my LQ I'm sure it will be nice. The color scheme they showed me was light browns for walls and flloring, and a medium oak for the cabinets. And no, I'm still not ready for that quiet Duramax you have. Maybe if I could take all the Chevy badges off and put on Isuzu emblems in their place I could bring myself to drive one!Just Kidding!

...mebee there's IH stickers under Ferd stickers ? Mitsubishi under Chryco.
I still don't have the info on SIL's truck trannie replacement, but it seems to be generally believed that it is a 2000 or 2001 with about 60,000 on it, has been used for plowing snow, is a Duallie and had the trans replaced last year. I can probably get the VIN if it helps support your case (build date, etc.) I know it is a 7.3 klattermotor.

Not as I had remembered it.
The SIL's truck's vin plate says manufactured 02/01, though warranty usually runs from purchase date and I don't know when that was.
Also, trans was replaced 3 years ago at about 28,000 miles.
It seems like it was more recent than that, though I can't even remember what it is that they say is the first thing to go (-:
My only excuse is that we had a very traumatic week-end in the middle of two damned bad weeks that June.

Anyway, I guess he'd only had it maybe a year and a half when the trannie went out and Ford replaced it fer free.

Yep, another Ford. Power Stroke 4x4. Well rated beyond my 10600 pounds of trailer, horses and goodies for those who love to play the "your undertrucked" card(myself included). It's not as Fancy as InIndiana's QuietMax Cheby, BUT IT MAKES LOTS OF NOISE!!!

Just ask Chip and Betty about my last truck. Lots more noise than your new Powder-stroke! And it was gas! Bad thing was I just could not sneak around camp in it!! But I can now-watch out Ed. Guess I could put duel exhaust on this one though or take muffler off completly.

Alright Alice, I'll keep an ear out for the Quiet-Max next time were down at BC. It was a busy weekend here with graduation and all, but Betty's canopy came in handy!

I guess it's easier to moan/whine about auto tranny problems than learn to shift with a clutch? Love my six speed super duty.
