Like an idiot I bought a BRAND NEW Ponderosa 3 horse slant BP as a run around trailer.  Paid 5k. Figured I could pull a BP with either of our vehicles and not always tie up the truck.  Well, I have a horse that weaves in the trailer and he rocks that BP like a ship at sea.  I've never even hauled him in it yet, as I'm not comfortable with all that trailer motion. He weaves bad enough just sitting still!!  I contacted the dealer where it was purchased 2 days after to see if I could trade for another GN (much more stable), and guess what??  Would not return my phone call!! Go figure!!  Contacted another dealer and he proceded to tell me that this trailer is only worth wholesale $3,800.  Amazing how this trailer could depreciate $1.200 in less than a month.  I've pulled 2 ponies in this trailer twice, still haven't gotten the title back from the state, and it seems that I'm gonna have to take a big "hit" to unload it!!  Well, I can't afford that size hit!!  I guess there's no dealers around who would want to sell me a GN and give me a decent trade on this "ALMOST" new trailer. Like I said I might be an idiot . . .

Your trailer is still worth nearly the $5k at retail. The $3800 is almost what the first dealer paid the factory for it, brand new. The second dealer is offering you $3800 for your trailer when he could buy one brand new for $4000 or $4200 from his factory. Remember they buy $4200 trailers to sell them to you for $5000. That's how they pay the bills.

On that note - why not try and sell it privately... if it's just a run about you are looking for - maybe offer it for a little less than you paid - or will trade for a GN... you may be able to pick up an older GN and get some cash in your pocket.

I don't really see how you can dish a trailer that you've you never hauled the horse in.  All $5000 price range trailers have about the same features, weights, contruction, etc.  If your horse can rock a Ponderosa at a stand still - he will rock a WW, CM, Delta, or any other trailer in that category.  The are all steel bodys that sit on two axles.

You are not going to fix your problem by losing money on a new trailer and getting another similar priced trailer.

I had a horse that would weave like no other in a trailer.  In the slant load goosneck we never noticed it.  However with a bumper pull you better hang on, it was going to be along ride! I don't think I'd get another BP to try to haul the horse in but thats JMO.  Good Luck!

Barry,

OH YES! there is a big difference between a BP and a GN with a weaving horse. Thats where you've missed my point.  The difference between a sway in a BP versus a sway in a GN. I've been hauling this horse around for years in a GN, and it was more stable period.  I screwed up by buying a BP, but it just chaps my hiney that I won't get crap on a trade.  Unfortunatley, I don't have alot of extra time to spend showing this trailer to prospective buyers as I have a very busy life.  Would be easier to trade
