I just sent my order to 4 star for a 2H slant w/ a 6' SW that I intend to convert to LQ at some point in the next couple of years. I am considering adding a mid tack (the dealer said I could make changes for a couple of weeks still) - does anybody know approximately how much this will cost? The smallest mid tack possible will do.

We have a three horse slant, and are going to order a 2 horse slant, gh with rear tack to be used as a feed room and will have a mid tack for the tack. The price that I have for mine will be around 500.

I don't know how much this would cost but i think it would be well worth it. i have a midtack and really like it. I know most people use the first stall as the tack room but with shavings in the horse area, it can get tracked into the LQ ( unless you sweep it up and keep i clean) with a midtack, your stuff is stored ina  cleaner area and you have a place to go if you're dirty. I wouldn't have another trailer without one.

Thanks for the advice - what is the smallest useful size you could make a mid tack?

The smallest mid tack is a 2' SW but get a 3' SW and have a removable saddle rack mounted in it.  It is the perfect usable size.  2' mids are just a bit too tight.  BYW, if you can, insulate the mid and the dressing area.

Likely the cheapest way to do it and be functional would be a 3 or 3.5 slant mid tack, basically it is like adding a stall and extra wall.  Then there is the possibility of adding another saddle rack, hooks, blanket bars etc etc.  I have had that set up in the past with a walk through to the lq and liked it alot.

I almost wish I would have went with a full mid tack on my current trailer instead of a pocket tack with a swingout saddle rack and oversized door.  For us a mid tack is a requirement and would hate to think of buying a main trailer w/o one, especially when you add 2 works saddles, 2 show saddles and english saddles plus a couple of kitchen sinks.

Oh yes, the door into the LQ area is a must!  I don't have a door into the stall area because I store hay, shavings, hoses, and a bike in that first stall.  Opening the door would be impossible.  Plus, I wanted the wall space on the mid tack for bridle hooks.  I also put a closet on the short wall which is great.
