I am shopping for a good steel horse trailer that is well made and paint that will hold up against rust, as well as can be expected for a steel trailer. Recommendations and comments would be appreciated.

Check out McKinley Enterprises. The make custom steel trailers with automotive grade paint. I have spoken with a couple of folks that own them and they say they pulll real well. It is a family owned business and they are very very nice people. They use very good quality materials. Get a Jackson...mine's perfect after 20+ years of ownership and noone would guess I've had it more than a year! I've personally driven two trucks into the ground towing it...Look into Jackson Mfg they are made in Chichasaw, OKNo other steel trailer I've ever seen comes close to the quality and craftmanship that my Jackson does!http://www.jacksontrailers.com/

I just purchased a 3 horse CM steel slant, drop downs with grills on road side, front dressing room, rear collapsable tack, 4 saddle rack which moves from rear tack to front dressing, plexiglass on curb side, mats on floor (not wall). Picked up $5999 which is $2000 cheaper than advertised in some places. I did have to drive to Durant OK.

i have been pulling a Moritz steel 3h slant since it was new in 1994. this trailer has held up great and has no rust to speak of. the paint has looked faded for the last 3yrs but i have been really impressed with this brand. they are sturdy made and even the floor boards are in great shape. if they are still making them like they used to you wont go wrong.
Read about thier construction process and what they do when they paint. I was impressed. After 3 years of service, I am very pleased with everything about the trailer, their service is great also.

I have looked to the TrailsWest and they seem well built. We own a 1994 3H Logan and am very happy. It sits out in the Oregon rain all year long and has very little rust.

Perry, please take a look at Bee trailers before you make a decision on a trailer. They make a good steel trailer and we've been happy with ours since day one!

90% of any quality steel traile lasting is caring for it. Wash it down, wax it a couple of thimes a year, make sure you touch up and re-seal rock chips and stall damage from the horses. And if I ever buy another brand new trailer I will have the bottom coated with some type of rhino liner to protect the undrcarriage where the most road rash occurs. As for a brand, I think my Titan faired much better than my Bison.
