Uhhhhhh, my jumping horse also backed his ears at cows and showed his teeth. He loved halter breaking my show steers. Not a cow in him but he could have fooled anyone.

If your horse will back his ears and look at a cow he has some cow in him. Maybe not bread in but some just seem to want to dominate a cow. Some will look real good and some will runaway either can be a cow horse. Some will not even acknowledge cow is around (those will never make a cow horse). I like to team sort some. But by far the most fun cow events in my opinion are ranch versatility and working stock horse as we al the ever popular reined cow horse. It kind of combines all the aspects of western riding.

I agree about the Reined Cow Horse (RCH)... but... be careful that the horse doesn't bite or otherwise try to hurt the cow... grounds for DQ!!
There's another event I watched on a video... not sure what it's called... you ride a pattern of choice, go into a smallish pen and PICK your cow out (but not like cutting), then work the cow in a pattern, and finally work the cow into another pen (like team penning) or through a gate ...

Some might call that working cowhorse. Variations exist - the ones I'm familiar with start with a reining pattern - circles, lead changes, run downs, spins backing and stops.. Next cow work - cutting, fence work, etc.

Are you looking at selling this mare. My sister lost her gelding this past christmas due to colic and she is looking for a replacement. Seems like your mare would do the job!
