Several of my friends have new or semi-new exiss trailers. I just purchased a used softtouch and am in need of an alumium fold-a-way step for my living quarters entrance. Been searching the internet with not much luck. Any help???

I would think any trailer dealer that sells and srvices alluminum trailers should be able to get one and install it to your trailer.If that dont work go to a weld shop that does alluminum and see what they would charge to fabricate one.take your trailer with you so they can measure to see what it would take

Sundowner offers a Fold-Away camper step w/spring--12'' long at around $83.00 plus shipping/handling. It's all-aluminum. They also offer an aluminum, tube-framed step that mounts to the frame, at about $245.00 If these don't fit the bill try Camper World--they offer various steps also, Zane.

Yes, the Exiss steps are really nice. I saw them at a horse expo recently and now I want one too! I just searched for them and can't find the exact ones anywhere. I hope some resourceful person on this board comes through with the order info!

Talked to a dealer friend of mine. He says that steel and aluminum don't mix. I found a really cheap one and was going to purchase it, he says that I would have rust problems???

If it's the Exiss type you like call an Exiss dealer.... The dealer I bought my CM from sells Exiss too and they can order any part in as they do repairs - I would think any other Exiss dealer could do the same... worth a try.

You can connect steel and aluminum without causing any rusting of the steel or oxidation of the aluminum. Just spend a few minutes looking at the places where they bolt together and add nylon or plastic washers to keep those two metals apart. There is an adhesive tape made by 3M that trailer manufacturers use in places where steel and alumin need to be kept slightly separated, you may not be able to get it in diy quantities, though McMaster Carr might have it. If the price on the step is right it might be worth a little diy and "invention".
