Hello everyone! I've been a lurker for some time & really enjoy all the info on here.

I'm in the market for a trailer & am looking for any and all opinions. Where are the best places to go for a trailer? What brands seem to be the most cost efficient and safe?

I'm looking for a 3 horse, GN, dressing room, must be AT LEAST 7' tall, and mats. The options I'd like to have are, collapsable rear tack, drop downs on the butt side, front horse exscape door, Xwide & Xlong. I look at used, if in good cond (no repair/paint needed) and new in either all galvanized steel, all alum, or a combo. My budget is stuck at $11,000 or under. I'd like to stay around the northern MI/WI areas. Anyone with any ideas or thoughts? I appreciate it!

Look for a Horse Expo type event and investigate lots of manufacturers there. I was at a small expo last weekend and they had about 15 different trailer manufacturers represented! Lots to look at, lots to learn. And remember, for most of the new trailers sold, there will be a used one coming on the market! Good luck and have fun!

Not exactly in the UP, but Triple C trailer sales in Watervliet, MI is the place to shop in your neck of the woods. You'll be hard pressed to find a better deal than they will cut you. Run by the Crouch Family, Dad-Mom-Son. Heck, it's in their backyard and they have a bunch of trailers to look at.

Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with this dealer. I only know them from personal dealings in the past.

Your best bet is to look at the horse trailers for sale section on this site. I can't think of any dealers in da' U.P. eh, but there is a nice dealer in WI,Gold Medal Trailers(they are listed on this site) and in southern MI there is Price's Trailer Sales, they are super, super nice people! They sell Exiss and Sundowners but may have something used on their lot. In West Branch, there is West Branch Tank & Trailer. They carry Bison and Featherlite trailers. There is also Millbrook Trailer in Grand Rapids and Rockford. They have many different brands of trailers to choose from. Just start looking at trailers and see what suits your needs best.

Good luck and welcome to the board!! Do you think winter is over in MI yet?

Hi everbody, I'm also looking for a new trailer.  Prefer 2 horse in a large size.

currently checking out Merhow and Equispirit. Our horses are large TB's.

Any experience or comments with these 2 brands?

Also, bumber pull or gooseneck? Presently pulling older Circle J 2 horse bumper pull w/ 05 F250 super duty diesel.

Thanks for any comments.

Fresno3 - For you, I would definitely wait for the Horse Expo in Sacto this June. Tons-o-trailers there! They also will make some pretty good deals if you buy on the spot, so bring your checkbook! A friend of mine just ordered a CircleJ aluminum 2h bp that she's excited about, but I haven't seen it yet, so I can't really recommend personally. Have fun hunting and looking! And when you're ready to buy, run the make/model by the members on this board for some honest input!

When I was trailer shopping, I went to usedtrailers.com and put in exactly what i was looking for. had many phone calls and emails from lots of dealers. we bought one from one of those dealers, over the internet from mn. first time for that and a very good experience, even though we were a little leary about it. debbie

I would suggest you consider Trail-et and Hawk trailers in addition to EquiSpirit and Merhow.

If you have the time you should check out the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison, WI.  Usually can get good deals there.  This weekend 04/15/05-04/17/05. Lots of friends have suggested I look there.
