I am new to horse trailers and how to operate the electrical systems. I just bought a used elite horse trailer with an outlaw interior. There are 2 marine batteries with an on/off switch beside them and also an onboard generator. Should the switch be on or off when running the generator? Thank you for any guidance.

Must be ON! Also must be on for the batteries to be able to charge when plugged into shore power.

We just bought a 2007 Platinum and I called Outlaw and was able to get full details, build sheet and everything from them. Just call and give them the last 4 of the vin number.

I did have to pay for a new binder which includes all of the original owners manuals and complete operating instructions. Well worth it to me.

Is there a reason to have it in the off position at any time?

Yes.  If your trailer is sitting and not plugged in there is a slight draw from different things (co2 detector, smoke detector if direct wired, etc) in your trailer.  Your batteries will drain down.

Thank you. I was unsure if I could leave the switch in the ON position while running the generator. Will running the generator while the switch is ON charge the batteries?

Yes.  Leave switch on when running generator or plugged in on shore power.  Turn switch off if you are storing/not using.
