I have some rotten plywood on my trailer from a leaking window seal, the horse kicked the butt bar mount off, thus I discovered the rot. I am planning to buy some H channel aluminum extrusion to put along the middle of the existing lower wall and replace the top of the wall. Rough dimensions of the plywood repair panel will be 7'X3', probably go with 3/4 inch thick material. Question, what do I apply on the exterior surface of the plywood? Paint would protect but look pretty cheesy. Is there some type of adhesive material in that size that would go on that? The trailer is mostly aluminium.

Rubber mat. Used conveyor belting is tough and durable. Check with an industrial supply house for new material. 7x4 feet might even be a scrap to be had inexpensively or free.
