bought a trailer 4 horse gn with newer tires on it for our impending move to upstate ny.. were in Missouri at the moment.. well we are supposed to take off around midnight tomorrow.. i got to checking pressure.. they are low for what the tire is rated at.. its at about 65 psi.. way too low so ill be filling them up.. here is the kicker.. the tires are rated at 105 psi.. and that is what i was going to fill them up to.. but got looking and the original rims say 80 psi.. which one should i go by.. can i safely put in 105 psi? or should i compromise the tires are hankook maxi-vantage f-19 7.50r16 LT g load range. i will be driving slower than most of the traffic. i want to make it up to ny safely.. the fact i have to make 3 round trips.. not fun. last trip i grab the horses lol. so if anyone can help ease my fears a bit and give me an idea of what i should do for the pressure i would greatly appreciate it

OK....nobody is going to tell you to put 105 psi in a 80 psi rated rim....though it probably doesn't matter. That tire is rated to 3300 lbs @ 105 psi. Have you ever weighed the trailer? You could probably de-rate the tires to 3000 lbs at 80 psi so if your trailer axles are carrying less than 12000 lbs....you are probably OK. For long term peace of mind, you can replace the rims. Weigh your trailer. If they are original rims, I would guess that a 80 psi tire was sufficient for the expected loads.

That I don't know. Got ahold of the original owner. She said she ran them at 65 psi. Not sure if that is even safe. No clue about where the tires came from. Changing the rims this late can't do. But if it's feasible then I can put them to 80 psi rated at rim. 20 below tire rating Thing is we're heading out tomorrow. So can't do a whole lot till we are moved.
