We are needing to replace the battery on our LQ trailer. It will not start the generator unless we have the truck hooked up to jump it. So yes it is time for some new ones...lol. We are debating if we should maybe go with a deep cycle marine battery this time? We need it to start the generator but also when the generator is not being used the battery needs to be able to power the lights. That is why were are thinking a deep cycle may be the way to go. Will a deep cycle have enough to fire the generator up without a problem? Also we are leaning towards AC Delco Voyager. Is that a good brand to go with? My husband likes AC Delco so he would like to stick with that brand. Thanks!

As was stated, a deep cycle marine battery will give your LQ the best service and longest life span. It will also easily start your generator. These batteries feature a heavier construction, allowing a longer and deeper discharge rate without suffering internal damage. There are many good brands of batteries. Purchase one locally that has the best warranty and rating, and not one with the least expensive price.

I paid the money for two Interstate deep cycle batteries. They are not cheap, but I was told by several automotive friends that they were the best and had a 36 month warranty. Well they didn't even last two years, and when I took them back to the shop where I had purchased them they basically told me that the warranty was a joke. After 1 year they prorate the batteries and I ended up up paying full price again less 6.00$. Needless to say that will be the last time I ever purchase First Interstate. No I did not replace them with First Interstate.

Some companies have a three year free replacement period, included in a following four year pro rated time. There are several distributors offering these services. If the batteries are properly maintained and stored off season, two years is a very short life span. Older LQ charging systems frequently produced those results with overcharging. Inexpensive maintenance chargers can prolong battery lives into a decade or more of serviceability.

I have a 2007 Featherlight and the batteries were properly taken care of year round. The original batteries that came with it lasted over six years. So that would leave me to believe that it was the batteries themselves and not the way they were taken care of. Live and learn.
