We are sitting here with yet MORE SNOW! and dreaming about camping and riding soon... IF we ever dig out of this winter. Our LQ is ready, and we are trying to keep our horses healthy and fit. Planning a trip to Caney Mountain (by car/truck first) to check it out... Anyone know more about Falling Waters since Joe's death? heard it was closed, then not?

I live 12 miles from the Missouri border and can say I'm glad most of the snow went South of us today. Yesterday the forecast was for 6-8 inches for today. After we just had 5 inches a couple of days ago, I'm glad we're down to 1-2 inches. We're still fortunate compared to many others.Friends and I are making plans to take a vacation in May down to High Knob Campground in Shawnee Ntl Forest in Illionis. I've been to Shawnee two other times but the first time to High Knob. From what I've heard, the riding is 5 star but hearing mixed feelings on the owner. Planning on my second vacation in October to the 4J Big Piney Ride in Missouri. It'll be my 20th year there and can't believe the time has flown by. A person can only clean tack & trailer so much during cold months so now I'm hoping for decent Spring to get my horse and I in shape for vacation. I'm ready to ride..

Clamity don't bother going to Caney with just the truck, bring the animals with you. I did the same thing the first time and wish I had brought the animals. Charles, Teresa, Bootsie, Cheryl they are great people and the riding is great. You will want to stay!!!!!

Thanks for the info on Caney... we thought we better check it out first to be certain we can get in easily..And, can't wait to go to Falling Waters again. Joe will be sorely missed. Great riding there. We will venture out close to home as soon as possible, for a pre-flight trip to make sure everything is cool with our rig. Then, off to Erbie! or Caney. Every day we trudge through the snow up to the barn to feed and check on everything during the day..we count the minutes till riding season. On good days here, we ride year round anyway, without camping.

Caney Mt. and Falling Waters is on our list for this year too. Of course Shawnee a few times only 3hrs.from us. Still thinking of Utah. Can't wait to get the camper loaded and hit the road. Happy Trails everyone!

Shawnee is also on our list, and Utah (in the fall?), we are looking for a class 6-7 hauler before we go too far out on our road trips...

Clamity, I drive a Peterbilt pulling a 41 ft trailer and I can make it to Caney. Just drive with a little care and you can make it comfortably. The last 7-8 miles are tight but just be patient and your reward will be when you get there. Enjoy your trip.P.S. be sure to "buddy up" to Charles and Bootsie and they will show you some great riding.
