I know this subject has been 'done' a lot, but hoping you all will indulge me w/ advice for replacing the 19 or so year old tires on my 14' X 5' basic stock combo CM steel trailer. Still has the tires that came on it, they are Firestone M & S, P 225/70R/15 tires. I have never used this trailer what most would consider 'heavily', and use it even less now; it has sat outside most of its life, sometimes I've been able to cover the tires, but not mostly...though I do park it to minimize the direct sun on the tires, then cover the side that gets direct sun. They still have a decent amount of tread, and little if any 'checking' on the sidewalls. It's time to have the wheel bearings checked and repacked, and I need to get the trailer plug replaced, after neglecting to connect it and 'dragging it to death' hauling hay last fall...dumb thing to do, I KNOW! I asked about tires(they sell and service CMs): they have some 'Safeguard' brand , 205/75/15's,at $90 each. My questions: Is this a brand anyone knows, AND could recommend? Can this tire size be substituted for the ones now on it? I HAVE searched online, not finding the size now on the trailer.)I can't afford top of the line tires for this trailer, but don't want to end up with something that won't last or might be dangerous, either, as you can imagine. Serious advice would be greatly appreciated by this 'older' woman who is the sole 'supporter' around her place!! TIA, Margo in NM

19 years on one set of tires!!!!!!!!!! That's amazing. I would suggest the same sizes as the trailer originally came with and AMERICAN made. NOT CHINEESE!!! I also agree with having the bearing at least repacked if not changed and brakes checked if it has some. I would never go more than about 4-5 year on a set of tires. Not because of wear but age. Just my opinion
