I need to go north from Midwest Arkansas up 71 and head up toward Kansas City. There was a tremendous amount of construction on 540 going around Fort Smith as I head up 71/540 toward Fayetteville and beyond... does anyone have an alternate route, suitable for a 45 foot rig? Thanks..

Try the DOT call site for info. I can't think of any other way that is better.

I live in Alma near Fort Smith.  The 540 construction will be finished by the end of May...most is open now.  You will have no issues getting throught Fort Smith at this time.  I pulled a 39 ft LQ through there twice last week...heading south and then back north on 540.

I got around For/t Smith from 71 south up around on 540 to I 49 North with no issues last 5/28/14 and again north to south on 6/1/14, easy and no stop and go as it had been earlier in the year. Thanks for the replies!
