I am looking at over nighting there in June. Do I just make an online reservation, or call for a RSV? Is the park locked at a certain time of day/night? Or can you just pull in and hook up and pay in a box? Website says the electric is all 50 amps. Are there no regular plugs/30 amp plugs, or will I need a 30 to 50 adapter for the trailer? Are there pens? Thanks

There are 30 amp also. They accommodate all kinds of rigs. No pens. High line poles at each site. There is a barn ' next door' that you can use, there is a charge, I believe ? Water at each site. You can make reservations on line now on the park website . If you come in the middle of the night and don't see a tag on that site, you should be pretty safe. Worse case, you may have to move if it was reserved prior. The ranger usually comes around every day. Nice bath house , dump station. Is it an interim trip, or are you coming to ride?

Thanks Walkin. No I'll be going from NE Texas to Virginia for a competition. I am also looking at Lazy Susan closer to Nashville. I know I-40 will have road construction and I am looking to make all the miles I can the first day. I will be at a competition in Missouri the previous weekend, and make that drive home on Monday. Repack and rest Tuesday, and then make the drive to Virginia in 2 days, Wednesday and Thursday. If I get too tired Thursday (or hung up in traffic) there are some stop over places the other side of Knoxville and I can drive on in to camp early Friday morning. I come back through Little Rock from Missouri but my husband will be with me and he has to catch a plane Wednesday for work or I would just head on across I-40 towards Virginia and not come back to Texas :( When I leave out from Virginia the following Monday I may try to make it to Natchez Trace to overnight.

OD? 40 probably won't have construction. I travel 40 to 81 to Va all the time.

You will want to watch out for work on I-40 at exit #407 in Tennessee (Pigeon Forge/Sevierville/Gatlinburg exit). Depending on the time of day (rush hour), traffic can be backed up for a couple of miles there. If you have a smart phone, donwnload the TDOT Smartway app, input your route and dates/times of travel and the app will warn you of construction zones/traffic jams/accidents. Also watch for the large blue signs along side the interstate ... if the lights are flashing on the signs, tune to AM 1620 and hear a pre-recorded message about traffic/construction in the area. Of course, if you have already reached the sign, it might be too late to take an alternate route.
